Cosplay what I do
Ok, I have now gather almost and hopefully at the material I need for my Cardcaptor Sakura dress. I'm placing a lot of effort (and money) into this one costume and I'd love to get some feed, opinions and any help into making of this cosplay that I can. I'm tring to be open in my art, and cosplay is also my art. So, under a cut, I'm placing my plans. There are polls and things I'm questioning that I'd love help on. You don't have to do cosplay yourself, I need some color help so please help me out.
So I final picked out the Cardcaptor Sakura dress. Her drama dress from the second movie. I did her admusement park outfit and now move to her drama dress. I have a love/hate of the dress. I think its because it has a great cut to the dress but seem simple. That is to happen when placing it n an anime. Here is a reffance shoot.

Here is my first "spursed up" drawing of the dress.

I took this drawing with me and went to JoAnns. There I picked up silk and some pretty emporded fabric that was in the mark down bin. It was as nere pefect to what I wanted that could possible be. I also picked out some red shoes from payless that I thought where really cute and would totally go with the dress. Well, I contacted to do a commission for the assories. I knew I couldn't afford to ask her to do the whole dress and I like making my cosplay. Makes me more porud when I'm at the convention. I'm tring to keep the dress up to quality of the assories and after the first WIP shot, I knew I needed to spurse it up. I also cut out my skirt and only had a little bit of fabric left and wasn't sure weather that would cut it for the bodise of the dress. So, another trip to JoAnns. As we know, JoAnns can only give us so much. It was out of the silk in the color that I bought it. (Mostly because I bought it all when I was there.) I saw in the same color of fabric with glitter in it and thought that would look good for the top. Also got some linning fabric for the top. I got a few notions but didn't see anything that really screamed at me for the skirt. With that I tried Handcock and found some great trim for the bottem of the skirt. Now I've done a new drawing with more of the revision of my newly aquired fabric and notions.

My assories are made with burgandy velvet (same color as my hobbit vest >.<) so I changed the red to burgandy.
This is how I want to decend the fabric. I'm still a bit of a fight to use the glitter fabric for the top. Would that be too much? I believe I have enough of the skirt fabric to make the top but the glitter looked good too. >.< What do you think? My mom squeeled and thought it would be a great idea. I like my skirt fabric because its heavey so it drabs how I like it. I've seen people make it out of cotton type fabric and its to light.

The first photo shows the glitter fabric with skirt fabric and the over skirt fabric. I thought I use the trim to help blend the skirt and top togehter. The second is what I found at handcocks and think would be perfect for the bottem of the skirt. I ordered a spoil more as they only had 3 yards and I will most defently need more then 3. I'm also not sure if I should do the lace up back. I would have to do a major change to the pattern (Galina pattern) to make it work. I would need to place the zipper to the side and not in the back. It would look cool, if I can pull if off. My skill point in cosplay aren't very high. This is my third major, all created, by me costume. Also, should I do an under skirt? (the second drawing has it.) It would help to have a little more puff to it and give it more pink. Pink ...*_*
So, what do you think?

Note: Pink shoes.
Also my big delema now is my shoes. There red and I've gone more burgandy and think they would stand out to much by having red shoes. In the manga illistration, they have used pink shoes and payless had the same design of shoes in pink, should I go for the pink shoes or the red? ( I would place a poll here but I can't get one to work under a cut, sorry.)
After all the dress getting done, with all its prettness there is also one other important thing to the outfit...wings. -dies and going into coma-
Here is my delema. I do plan for this to me a costume I can work on all summer, so time is not so much the issue. Issuse, is how what kind of material do I want to make the wings out of? I've seen the done all different type of ways and many good ways. There is a three in my mind that I think of going 1) Feathers 2)Fabric 3) Paper/craft fome. What do you think would suit this the most? Don't think about coast or my skill points kind of suck. I will make what works best.
And here is the last images, more WIP of the "dark" wig.

And here is my skirt cut out.

Ok, I've cover fabric, style of the dress, assories, shoes, wig and wings. I think I've cover it all. Oh, did I mention I'm out of my freaking mind and I think the design looks like I've watch to many 40s-50s musicals?

I hate the shoes, but I thought it still looked pretty interesting.

Thanks. But thing is, red or pink shoes? What do you think looks better?
I like the sketches you made, and I can't wait to see further progress pics - you look like you have a good start! I need A-kon to be out of the way so I can work on my AFest stuff~! Woo Frey ^_^
I'm so iffy on wether I'll be going to animefest or not. Its the plane ticket that kills me the most.
Also I think since you've made the red ribbons into burgandy I would go for the pink shoes to match the dress and use burgandy ribbon to go up the leg. IF you could find burgandy shoes to match then you could do that, but in all of my shoe obsession I actually only own one pair of burgandy and they are a children's maryjane style that I wear. Burgandy is not an easy colour to come by.
New wig looks good too ^_^
As for the wings...I would say feathers since that one picture has all those feathers around her, but depending on how you use the craftfoam it could work out. I've made a pair using such for my Suu costume which I'll have to remember to take a picture of so you can see.
Also, one thing to consider with the wings, is transporting it.
